Hundeschule Hopen

A warm, direct website for everyday dog training with Dina Aselmeyer — combining clear coaching guidance, practical offers, a glossary, stories, and a separate booking portal.

My scope: content structure, offer architecture, responsive interface, accessible navigation, SEO and structured data, analytics consent, and the React build connecting the public site to the booking experience.

05 — The challenge

Be clear enough to trust before the first lesson

Dog owners usually arrive with a concrete everyday problem: pulling, encounters, recall, calm at home, or uncertainty about what to practise. The site needed to sound personal and grounded while still making the next booking step easy to find.

Fair, freundlich, verbindlich.

06 — Content model

A site that teaches before it sells

The implementation gives the public site several ways into the same decision: understand the approach, compare offers, look up a term, read an explanation, and then choose the format that fits.

APPROACH

Real-life coaching

The content repeatedly grounds training in leash work, recall, encounters, visitors, calm, and other situations people recognise from daily life.

OFFERS

A useful route to booking

Offer detail pages explain what the format is for with a direct WhatsApp contact CTA; the customer portal for available dates sits in the site-wide navigation.

GLOSSARY

Language people can use

The glossary turns specialist training terms into short, plain-language explanations that support confidence and search visibility.

07 — Shipping the system

Public guidance connected to a working booking flow

The repository includes routed home, about, offers, offer detail, contact, blog, glossary, dog licence, legal, admin, analytics, consent, and structured-data surfaces. The public site keeps the explanation human; the linked customer portal handles account creation and appointments.

08 — Real search performance

Twelve months of organic growth

8.6%1,900 clickssearch click-through rate since launch

Alongside that: monthly impressions grew from roughly 800 to over 20,000 across the first 12 months live, and both numbers are still climbing month over month. Google Search Console data, not a projection.

09 — What I learned

A local service site earns trust in small moments

Specific beats impressive

Concrete examples of everyday situations make the service feel more credible than a generic promise to improve behaviour.

The booking handoff is part of the product

A public website and an external customer portal can feel like one journey when the handoff explains what happens next.

Education reduces the sales burden

The glossary, articles, and offer explanations answer the questions that otherwise make a first contact feel risky.

EVIDENCE STILL TO COLLECT

Organic search performance is now measurable and growing (see above). A stronger case study would still add booking-source data and task testing with first-time dog owners.

NEXT STEPS

Measure which content paths lead to booking, test the portal handoff on mobile, and refine the offer taxonomy around the language customers actually use.
